Programmes

 

Rather than have the common "one-size-fits-all" class at The Academy, we understand that some people may have more time available that they wish to put into their training to take on more skills and further enhance their personal development. The adults' Programmes are as follows:

Basic Programme:
A 6 month training course that serves as an introduction to:

  • Foundation techniques in Tae Kwon Do
  • Fitness training
  • Non-contact sparring

 

Black Belt Programme:
A 24 month training course that takes you from zero to Black Belt standard.  It involves:

  • Training in specific beginners or advanced classes twice a week at either venue
  • Patterns (Forms) training - traditional
  • Sparring: non-contact, semi-contact & full-contact (within predetermined parameters
  • Self defence: escapes from holds using joint manipulation and pressure points
  • Routines - Short kick-boxing styled combinations
  • 1-step sparring:Traditional and modern dynamic responses to an attack.

 

Leadership Programme:
As above but with the following additions:

  • Unlimited training at either venue regardless of grade
  • Training in both beginners and advanced classes
  • A comprehensive character development course
  • Weapons training with "safety weapons"
  • Destruction techniques using various grade re-breakable boards
  • Opportunity to take double gradings and fast-track through to black belt
