1^st Degree Black Belt

1^st degree Black Belt requirements:

· Patterns # 4 to # 8 plus Koryo

· 1 Step sparring techniques sets # 3 & # 4

· 8 creative 1 Step techniques (within predetermined parameters)

· Self Defence techniques, sets # 1 to # 3

· 1 x 1.5 minutes round of sparring non-contact

· 2 x 1.5 minutes rounds of sparring semi-contact

· 2 x 1.5 minutes rounds of sparring full-contact

Eligibility for 1^st degree:
The 6 months leading up to the grading must be unbroken and training as a Full Member of The Academy.

2^nd degree Black Belt requirements:

Must be able to demonstrate all techniques above if requested and will be examined on the following:

· Pattern Kumgang

· Patterns # 1 to # 3

· Staff spinning techniques # 1 to # 11

· Creative Staff pattern incorporating at least 5 of the above

· 1 x 1.5 minute round of sparring non-contact

· 2 x 1.5 minute rounds of sparring semi-contact against one opponent

· 1 x 1 minute round of sparring full-contact against two opponents

· Breaking techniques 1 hand & 1 foot on re-breakable boards of at least 0.75” strength (green) board

Eligibility for 2^nd degree:
24 months of training as a Full Member of The Academy. The 6 months leading up to the grading must be unbroken and training as a Full Member of The Academy.

36 months of training as a Full Member of The Academy. The 6 months leading up to the grading must be unbroken and training as a Full Member of The Academy.
